Encouraging children to empathize is visible throughout the classroom day. Fantasy play is a major component in how C5 children practice taking care of other friends and themselves. Other ways our children practice their empathetic skills are by helping each other with their shoes, patting a friend to sleep, hugging a sad friend, and joyfully jumping up and down in a small group. Toddler children are both naturally egocentric and care-takers, and so these two traits are usually intertwined when children are working with each other. Learn more about our Toddler Program.
