Empathy

Current Focus:
Empathy

We encourage children to interact with each other, cooperate, and use social skills to invite and provide support to each other. As they develop appreciation for others in our positive and rewarding environment, they also develop the ability to have empathy for each other.

Trying out new behaviors and experiencing the benefits also contribute to developing empathy and the ability to use it productively. Then, many activities follow where the children are identifying with their friends and helping them with shoe tying, sharing a toy, joining in an exploration together, patting a friend to sleep, hugging a sad friend, and joyfully jumping up and down in a small group.
